Wooden instruments must become acclimatized to their environment.
When you receive your instrument from the seller or the repair technician, resist the urge to play it for hours.
To acclimatize the instrument, follow these guidelines:
- Play the instrument for a MAXIMUM of 15 minutes each day for a week.
- Swab the instrument thoroughly after each use and do not leave the swab in the case (humidity).
- The second week, play it for a MAX of 30 minutes a day. After this 2 week "re-entry" period the instrument will be acclimatized.
